SALON
de Provence
In the
16th century, Salon de Provence was the place of residence
of two very important individuals, Michel de Nostredame
(Nostradamus) and Adam de Craponne, the engineer.
In 1547 after much travelling, now a widower and hoping
to avoid the inquisition and the jalousie of the court,
Nostradamus decided to settle in Salon de Crau. This
was where he met his second wife, Anne Ponsard, and
decided to devote himself to his family. It was here,
in the town that has since become 'Salon de Provence,"
that he wrote most of his works.
